Ragnar is a Dutch 2012 Royal Niestern Sander 223′ 10″ / 68.2m vessel platform completely re-imagined and rebuilt in 2020 as a unique new Steel Explorer Motor Yacht by Dutch shipyard ICON YACHTS.

RAGNAR is a conversion project from  Icon shipyard. The supply vessel SANABORG built in 2012 at Royal Niestern Sander was converted into a luxury explorer vessel with accommodation for 12 in 8 cabins, including two Owner’s suites.

The two-year project was carried out under the technical control of Arcon Yachts Monaco at the Dutch shipyard ICON Yachts, which also completed a redesign & refit of the famous explorer motor yacht Legend that  also converted from a vessel platform. The icebreaker vessel platform used for Ragnar was originally built in Holland at the Royal Niestern Sander shipyard and launched in 2012.

The Ragnar project created a new 62.8-meter research mega-yacht with an internal volume of 2.450 GT, which is fully prepared for long autonomous trips in any latitude of the world, including the Arctic. Moreover, the unique Ragnar can still be an icebreaker and is certified as Ice Class A1 yacht.

The hull of the brutal Ragnar vessel is made of steel, the external and internal design is developed by the English bureau RWD (Redman Whiteley Dixon). There are impressive technical features onboard: the PC5 hybrid engine system, which provides a range of up to 6,000 nautical miles and a maximum speed of 14 knots. Due to the draft of only 3.15 m the yacht will have access to the most remote corners of the planet and wild shallow beaches. The inside areas of the yacht will be incredibly spacious, and the interiors will be designed in a classic Victorian style with elements of Medieval warship theme, with finishing of Mahogany and light walnut.

After days spent experiencing life to the full, guests will be pampered by the spa centre with massage room, sauna, steam room and foot spa. They will luxuriate in the top deck jacuzzi and the C deck pool forward of the fully certified helipad, test their strength in the large, fully equipped gym, dine on the pool deck or inside under the awesome gaze of an effigy of RAGNAR himself, then contemplate nature’s limitless majesty from the B deck observation lounge.

RAGNAR has Arctic ice breaking explorer capability, the power to handle all weathers with full ice breaking functionality and 6,000nm range for peaceful nights. Guests will need at least a week to experience all of her toys, including an Airbus EC145 helicopter for heliskiing and a three-passenger submarine to explore the depths, both available by request.
