The Livingstone name pays homage to the Scottish missionary and explorer Dr David Livingstone, famous for his travels around Africa and his tireless work on abolishing the slave trade. Dr Livingstone sailed the first steel boats ever built, the steam launch Ma Robert, which was instrumental during his Zambezi expedition of 1858-1862.
