Description
LA LUNA is a 53.2m (174.5ft) ketch-rigged sailing yacht with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure constructed to ABS classification and MCA compliance for commercial operation. Delivered in 1997 by famous Italian shipyard Perini Navi with in-house interior and exterior design, she was most recently refitted in 2017 and presents in fine condition.
Particularly special features include the circular ‘big-top’ circus lounge on the main deck, a unique feature and the entertainment focus of this yacht. Complete with 270-degree views, lounge, dining for 10 guests and sit-up bar, this remarkably atmospheric space has access through the wheelhouse or from the sidedecks. The yacht also has a beach club with dayhead and sea terrace as well as a swim platform with shower aft added during the latest refit, a midships boarding ladder for all-weather use. LA LUNA has 1 x 7m novamarine and 1 x 4.2m vanguard rescue tender.
Extensive deck spaces include a flybridge lounge with shade from the hardtop and sun lounging space aft, and a huge, flush foredeck area that offers a variety of uses. On the main deck aft are two piano-shaped sunpads and plenty of deck space for sun lounging and entertainment. Steps lead down to an al fresco lounge area with U-shaped sofa seating around coffee tables, shaded by the flybridge overhang.
Inside on the main deck, aft of the wheelhouse, there is an office that doubles as a media lounge and a cosy lounge bar, while forward of the wheelhouse is the spectacular circus lounge. Steps lead down to the main saloon, which currently formatted as a piano lounge with sofas and armchairs to starboard and a piano to port. The piano could be replaced with a dining table to deliver a more conventional layout but the circus lounge more than fulfils the formal dining brief.
She welcomes 12 guests in five suites. The large, full-beam owner’s suite aft has a bedroom port aft, lounge port forward, en suite with bath and shower room to starboard forward of a walk-in wardrobe. Large portholes keep the space well-lit. Midships are two guest double suites and forward two twin suites with additional pullmans complete versatile accommodation. She also sleeps 11 crew in five cabins.
When not under sail, twin 1,256 Deutz diesel engines give her a top speed of 13.5 knots, a cruising speed of 11 knots and a transatlantic range of 4,000nm at her passage speed of 10 knots. Under sail a centreboard delivers solid upwind performance with a draft of 8.2m (26.9ft) while raised, draft is just 3.7m (12.1ft) opens up a huge range of desirable ports and anchorages.
