Description
BLUE PETER 20m (65’7″) Classic Cruiser Racer Sailing Yacht launched in 1930 by British boat builder W. King & Sons and refitted in 2000. BLUE PETER is available for charter during winter to explore the many tropical islands, stunning sandy beaches, reefs, historic ports and crystal clear waters of the Caribbean. During summer available for charter in New England. Pricing is from € 18,000 per week with accommodation for up to 5 guests (and 2 crew).
The Blue Peter was launched in 1930 although the teak used in her construction was bought in Thailand in 1870. She was designed by Alfred Mylne in 1929, and built by W.King & Sons of Burnham-on-Crouch.
She was named The Blue Peter after the ‘P’ Flag, which is used as the five minute signal before starting a race. This was intended to bring her luck whilst racing. It worked & she went on to win over 50 races, sailing out of the Royal Corinthian Yacht Club in Burnham-on-Crouch.
The present owner bought her in 1999 and took her to Italy where he spent the next 3 years restoring her back to her original splendour. Blue Peter having been regatta racing in the Mediterranean for many years is now located during the summer months in New England and spends her time during the winter in the Caribbean to take part in the Caribbean regattas.
