BALTO is a 39.5m (129’5″ ) Luxury Explorer Steel (Ice Class Conversion) Motor Yacht launched in 1975 by Finish shipyard RAUMA and refitted in 2020. BALTO is available for charter to experience Iceland expeditions taking in stunning volcanoes, spouting geysers, still fjords, spectacular waterfalls, vast glaciers, gushing waterfalls, and bubbling hot springs, staggering wildlife and multiple species of whales. Pricing is from € 85,000 per week with accommodation for up to 12 guests (and 6 crew).
Balto is probably the roomiest and most elegant small polar expedition yacht out there. She is also one of the the sturdiest, a former Finish government ice breaker. Built as a Lloyd’s 1-A ice class ship she is built out of high grade corten steel. She is ice enforced the complete length of the hull and double bottomed with tank placement. She is also fitted with electric diesel propulsion capable of maintaining versatile maneuvering and survey speeds with no vibration, also ideal as film/photo platform.
EXPERTISE
The owner and crew have vast experience in the Arctic, having completed numerous scientific and private expeditions in Svalbard and Greenland.
Over the past decade their clients have included, NYU, Environment Canada, NASA/JPL, U.S.NAVY UWC, UCI, TV and film companies, so you will be in good hands.
